What he loves... making memorable worship services, maximizing creative volunteers and enhancing church communication.
His typical workday... is anything but typical. Whether it’s designing a 30x16’ board game, leading a creative planning meeting, communicating with volunteers, creating VJ clips, finding the right way to deliver a message or coming up with new ideas, his day is always an adventure.
He volunteers his time... leading a high school small group for student ministries, coaching and playing on a flag football team and updating
www.openresources.org where churches worldwide can download and use an entire library of creative materials he and others have created - absolutely free.
When he’s not at church, you will find him... spending time with family, playing football, snowboarding or designing websites and graphics (see below).
The most important people in his life are... his wife Julie and two boys Jeremiah and Elias. And his six brothers... yes six!
When he’s not in Northern Virginia, he’s teaching at conferences. He continues to be a featured speaker at Youth Specialties National Youth Worker Conventions and many other events. He also has written articles for Rev! magazine and Collide magazine. John is an Adobe Certified Expert in Photoshop CS4 and is nationally recognized as an authority on graphics in ministry.
To date, John has personally
taught thousands of Photoshop users from 45 different states. His techniques on creating digital composites by blending images together are thought to be the best in the industry and have made him the Photoshop instructor of choice for organizations, churches and ministries.
What else he does... John is Founder and President of Johnny Flash Productions, a web and graphic design company. He is also an independent producer of thematic graphics for WorshipHouse Media and designs graphics for churches across the country.
What makes him unique... he is ambitious (in case you couldn’t tell). He’s talented, versatile, and at home in all aspects of the creative process from production to performance. John sees the big picture.
